AFCON 2015: South Africa coach Mashaba expects Ghana to be cautious
Tuesday, January 27, 2015
South Africa mentor Ephraim Mashaba is perusing little into the way that Bafana have never lost to Ghana in an Africa Cup of Nations match on Tuesday night.
The two countries meet this evening in Mongomo, with a spot in the quarter-finals of the CAF occasion up for gets. Bafana – who dispatched the Black Stars 3-0 on the way to their 1996 Afcon triumph – need to beat the four-time mainland champions, and trust that Senegal thrashing Algeria to guarantee they progress.
Mashaba, who rolled out four group improvements for the last Group C tie, said: "No we are not going to engross that [bafana's Afcon record against Ghana], bear in mind that in everybody's life there is a first time, so this may be their first time they beat us.
"Furthermore, football is not like number juggling where you discuss, thusly, yes it has been said that the country that doesn't know their experience will die.
"We know they haven't beaten us, yet we are existing in the present and gulped by the minute and it will be something worth being thankful for to keep up that record that Ghana hasn't beaten us."
Mashaba anticipates that the experience will be a cagey issue given the high stakes.
"It will be an amusement brimming with alert, it is not a sort of diversion where you toss everything at the other group and stay helpless at the back. At the same time it will be a fascinating amusement, it will be an end to end diversion in light of the fact that they will need to score and we will need to score.
"The person who scores first will get to be agreeable, with the weight diminishing yet both groups will be taking a gander at scoring early.
